Privacy Policy
How your data is collected, stored, and used in the Renue Research participant portal.

Information We Collect
When you participate in a Renue Research study, we collect the following types of information:

We do not collect: financial information, social security numbers, location data, Oura activity/readiness scores, or data from any other health apps or devices.
How We Use Your Data
Your data is used for the following purposes:
- Study analysis: To compare your baseline sleep metrics against your supplementation phase metrics, and to generate your personalized sleep report.
- Aggregate research: To analyze group-level trends across all participants. Only anonymized, aggregate data is used for this purpose.
- Product development: Anonymized aggregate findings may inform future product formulation and dosing recommendations by Renue By Science.
- Communication: To contact you about your study progress, data uploads, or study-related notifications.
We will never use your data for:
- Marketing emails unrelated to the study
- Selling to third parties
- Profiling for advertising purposes
- Any purpose not described in this policy or your informed consent
Data Storage & Security
We take the security of your data seriously. The following measures are in place:
- Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256).
- US-based servers: Data is stored on servers located in the United States, operated by industry-standard cloud providers.
- Access controls: Access to participant data is restricted to authorized members of the Renue Research team. Individual team members have role-based access that limits what they can see.
- Anonymization: Your data is assigned a unique participant ID. Analysis is performed using this ID, not your name or email.
- Audit logging: All access to participant data is logged for accountability.
Third Parties
We do not sell your data. Period.
Third-party data sharing is limited to the following:
- Oura Ring: We access your Oura Ring data only through the CSV files you export and upload. We do not connect to your Oura account directly. Your Oura data is accessed with your explicit permission only.
- Infrastructure providers: Our hosting and database providers may process your data as part of providing their services, but they are bound by data processing agreements and cannot access your data independently.
- Research publications: Aggregate, anonymized results may be published in scientific journals, conference presentations, or on the Renue By Science website. No individual participant will be identifiable.
Your Rights
As a study participant, you have the following rights regarding your data:

Access your data. You may request a copy of all personal data we hold about you at any time by emailing the research team.

Request deletion. You may request that we delete all of your personal data. Anonymized data that has already been included in aggregate analyses may be retained.

Withdraw consent. You may withdraw your consent for data collection at any time. Withdrawal will stop future data collection but will not retroactively delete data already included in completed analyses.

Download your data. You may download a complete export of your study data (sleep metrics, daily notes, and reports) from your participant dashboard.
To exercise any of these rights, email research@renuebyscience.com. We will respond to all requests within 30 days.
Data Retention
We retain your data according to the following schedule:
- Anonymized data: Retained indefinitely for ongoing research purposes. This data cannot be traced back to you.
- Personal data (name, email): Deleted within 90 days of study completion or withdrawal, whichever comes first.
- Sleep data and daily notes (identifiable): Anonymized within 90 days of study completion. The anonymized version is retained; the identifiable version is deleted.
- Consent records: Retained for 7 years for legal compliance purposes, then securely destroyed.
